J’aime Ja’mie

TV reviewers have given some hyper-spurious reasoning as to why BBC3 docusoap Summer Heights High has been such a sleeper hit in the UK. I haven’t read them all in detail but it seems that their argument runs that the portrayal of a real Australian school clashes wildly with the world we’ve seen depicted in the fictional suburbs of Erinsborough and Summer Bay over the years. Maybe that’s true, but as anyone with eyes can tell you, the real reason for the show’s success can be explained in two, possibly three, words: Ja’mie King.

King is the private school princess who opts to slum it for a year among the skanky bogans, FOBS and drama queens of the publicly-funded Summer Heights High school. Fortunately for anyone with warm blood in their veins, King is one of the central people the cameras follow as she experiences life in the lower leagues and over the year things with King get pretty hot – lesbian hot.

You may have noticed over the years that Arena knows a thing or two about the female form and we confidently predict that this particular Antipodean starlet will follow the path set by Jordan and Kerry Katona and make the cross-over from docusoap to main stage in the coming months. Take a look for yourself and see why we j’aime Ja’mie!
