Tamsin Egerton seems to have been constructed to tick every box on Arena’s fantasy actress wishlist.

Endless blonde hair, skyscraping legs and a perfect English rose pout suggest she has been blessed from above. The 19-year-old’s blossoming career is not just down to her looks, though. She’s been acting and performing since she was at primary school.

But after slipping back into a mercifully short school uniform for this year’s remake of St Trinian’s, Egerton is planning to stick around for more than just one term.

“I’ve been turning down a lot of jobs recently. People think, ‘ooh, she can do the comedy, and she’s pretty so she can do the airhead stuff,’” she told Arena. “But I’m more than that and always have been.

“After St Trinian’s I’m having to steer people in a different direction.”

Don’t get the impression that Egerton is the sort of starlet to be found at the tearing open of an envelope, either. “I love country pubs with low ceilings and a big fire. I don’t really go clubbing. I’ll go to a few bars in Soho but that’s it,” she says.

“I drink JD and Coke, pints of Kronenbourg and Speckled Hen, but I can only have a couple as I get full up.

“I don’t get drunk very often as I’m a health freak. I get clumsy when I drink too much, but I’m clumsy anyway. I get clumsy when I’m over-excited, clumsy when I’m drunk and even when I’m nervous. My nickname is Baby Giraffe.”
