On yer toddy

For too long now, the hot toddy, that traditional mix of whisky and, er, hot water, has been overlooked by true connoisseurs of alcoholic refreshment. It’s seen the adult equivalent of asking your mum to make you a hot Ribena and give you a cuddle, and on top of that, it’s got a slightly dodgy name that’s open to innuendo from seven different angles.

Fortunately, Teacher’s have teamed up with whisky-lover extraordinaire Alistair Malcolm of the Lab Bar to do something about the hot toddy and they’ve come up with something that could seriously fix its image problem. Now, if only they could do something about the name.

Enjoy responsibly! (we’re legally obliged to suggest).

Ingredients
50mls Teacher’s Whisky
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
1 pod of green cardamom
Pinch of cinnamon
2 wedges of lemon
1 wedge of orange
37.5mls pressed apple juice
Hot water

Method
Add the cardamom, cinnamon and vanilla sugar to a heat proof glass and gently press the cardamom. Half fill the glass with boiling water then pour in the apple juice and whisky. Squeeze in the lemon and orange then gently stir until the sugar has dissolved then top up with boiling water. If preferred, strain off into a fresh glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
