Monkey business
The third – and final – photographic effort of our Monkey Shoulder whisky design challenge comes from Swedish snapper Bjorn Tagemose. His Sin City-style homage to Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks is bafflingly addictive to look at, because there doesn’t seem that much to it.

But then you see the chair, the one in the bottom right of the picture, and it changes. All of a sudden you have to grip onto something and steady yourself, like when you look over a cliff edge and think, “Ooh, wouldn’t it be nice to jump.”

Looking at the original photograph – before it was splashed with the trickeries of modern technology – it’s almost a scene from a South American sitcom. Which is why the next shot was chucked in.

Just a bog-standard photo of an art gallery, Bjorn then combined it with the first and added his heavy contrasting. We think you’ll agree that it ended up looking rather dashing.
